A four storey high living screen is featured on the west and south elevations of Dock5’s podium, which accommodates the development’s car park. The living screen is a vertical living art work composed of native and exotic climbers. The plant species were selected due to their ability to represent the work’s composition through the visual interest in flower and leaf colours, seasonal variability, and plant textures. Selection was also based on the ability to withstand the wind-swept setting of Melbourne Docklands, and twining characteristics suitable for climbing the vertical stainless steel mesh curtain wall. This project is seen as one of many projects for ‘Greening Melbourne’.
