Sea Spirits is an integrated art proposal that consists of a number of individual figures suspended at elevated positions in Frankston laneways that have been identified for the project. Conceptually, the Sea Spirits are created through the layering of high quality, light weight materials that are conducive to the coastal environment. The central core will form the essential structure and attachment points for suspension rigging as well as accommodating an integrated lighting component for illumination from within. This core is embodied with a light-weight, open, coiled skeleton covered in a holographic film that refracts light into colour for a magical visual effect along the spine. The outer skin and main body of the Sea Spirits are created with a fine, but transparent stainless steel mesh fabric.
