Jim Sinatra and Phin Murphy began their practice in 1991 with the aim of developing a studio based landscape partnership. Since then Sinatra Murphy has explored the wide range of opportunities provided by the landscape profession. This includes public art, landscape design, publication, and working with indigenous communities on a variety of landscape based projects. Sinatra Murphy Pty Ltd is well recognised for its unique approach to the creative process, drawing on both Jim and Phin’s experiences for all projects. An important intent of landscape projects is the development of ‘landscape paintings’. This philosophy has developed from working in a variety of places throughout the continent, often surrounded by inspiring landscapes and with indigenous people, informing an attitude that aims to capture the essence of a landscape’s identity.
